The Faculty of Applied Sciences at Simon Fraser University (SFU) invites applications for a Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in Sustainable Energy Systems Modelling. This is an appointment at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, with a home appointment in any of the Schools of Mechatronic Systems Engineering, Engineering Science, or Computing Science. A joint appointment across schools or faculties is also possible. Sustainable Energy Engineering is a strategic priority of SFU; this CRC would complement a newly created academic program in Sustainable Energy Engineering, as well as other chairs in related areas.
We are seeking a chair-holder with a prominent international profile and an excellent record of accomplishment in research, teaching and training of highly-qualified personnel (HQP). SFU requires a Ph.D. in Engineering or a closely related discipline, as well as eligibility to register as a professional engineer in British Columbia. The successful candidate would have a well-established funding record from national or international funding agencies for Sustainable Energy Engineering Modelling. An attractive remuneration package and start-up grant will be offered to the successful candidate.
This position is contingent upon the applicant receiving a Tier 2 Canada Research Chair. Tier 2 Chairs are intended for exceptional emerging scholars (i.e. candidate must have been an active researcher in their field for fewer than 10 years at the time of nomination). Applicants who are more than 10 years from their highest degree (and where career breaks exist, including maternity leave, extended sick leave, clinical training, etc.) may have their eligibility for a Tier 2 Canada Research Chair assessed through the program’s Tier 2 justification process; please see CRC website for eligibility details or contact SFU’s Major Project’s Office.
